Dance Class Descriptions

Creative Movement (Ages: 2.5yrs-4yrs)

This class focuses on the development and consciousness of body orientation, flexibility, self-confidence, following instructions, and class structure. Ballet technique is introduced with games, songs and different props. A structured 45 min class is presented in a fun way.

Ballet/Tap Combo (Ages: 3yrs-5yrs)

In this class, students will learn the basic concepts of ballet and tap technique, as well as fundamental dance class structure. Following instructions, taking turns, self-confidence, spatial awareness, and other basic skills are fundamental for dance and daily basic development. All taught through the perfect balance of discipline and fun. 

Ballet 1 (Ages: 4yrs-6yrs),

 No previous training is required for Ballet 1. 

At Rise we have a progressive program for all ages emphasizing classical ballet technique which is critical in all forms of dance.  Ballet helps dancers develop grace, balance, strength and flexibility.  Our classical ballet instruction is suitable for the serious dancer as well as those who would like to improve their performance in other dance forms or just enjoy a great form of exercise.  While ballet is considered more "serious" than other dance forms, we seek to make the experience fun and entertaining.  Note: Competition students are required to take a minimum of two ballet classes per week. 

Ballet 2 (Ages 7yrs-10yrs)

 

No previous training is required for Ballet 2.

Pre-Pointe

 

This class is intended for selected dancers who have shown adequate physical strength, accurate technique, and necessary mental awareness to go en pointe. Dancers must be recommended for pointe by their instructor. Students will utilize previously learned ballet technique while working in pointe shoes. This class focuses on foot/ankle strengthening exercises. Students will learn and practice pointe at the barre with heavy emphasis on correct foot and body alignment, with eventual graduation to center floor exercises. A slow and careful approach is used to ensure a safe and solid foundation en pointe. This class is intended for dancers who are new to pointe as well as dancers in their first or second year en pointe.

Modern (Ages: 7+yrs)

 Modern dance is an expressive dance style that combines elements of several dance genres. Modern dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements and body consciousness. This style stresses versatility and improvisation and focuses on floorwork, using gravity to pull them down to the floor. It is often done in bare feet. Modern dance can be performed to many different styles of music 

Improvisation (Improv.) (Ages: 7+yrs)

The best way for your dancer to express   themselves is through improv classes. With some instruction on what style of  improv your dancer has the floor to pour their whole hearts out and dance to their hearts desire.
